Ooi is a student from Malaysia who moved to Australia when he was 18 to study Commercial Cookery on The Gold Coast.He moved to Surfers Paradise on The Gold Coast and studied for 2 years. He studied the certificate III and IV in Commercial Cookery and Diploma of Hospitality. Throughout his studies Ooi undertook over 360 hours of work experience as a cook in a local restaurant. This combined with his qualifications allowed him to apply for the graduate work visa. This is an 18 month work visa in Aus.

When did you initially come to Australia?
I moved to Australia back in 2016.
What was your pathway to the visa?
I studied a Cert III, IV in Commercial Cookery and Diploma of Hospitality.
What were you doing before you came to Australia?
I had just graduated high school then I decided to come to Australia to study.
What are your plans for the future?
I plan to establish a successful career as a Chef and would one day love to open my own restaurant.
Why did you choose Australia?
I chose to study in Australia as it is close to my home country and it has western cuisine. It has amazing restaurants and world class chefs.
