Certificate III Individual Support

Are you wanting to kick start your career in the community service industry? Studying the Certificate III Individual Support will give you the skills and training to provided individual support in aged care as well as home and community settings.

Overview

This qualification reflects the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting (residential aged care facilities) who follow an individualised plan for provision of person-centred care to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason. Workers are being required to increasingly support people in their homes, support people with increasingly complex needs, to tailor care and support approaches to meet individual needs with increased ‘client’ choice.

Adelaide, Melbourne, Perth, Darwin, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Hobart & Sydney.

Intake & Duration:

Monthly intake and course duration is 12 months

Outcome:

Aged care support worker, disability support worker, assistant in nursing, personal care assistant in areas of residential aged care facilities, respite care worker, community based care worker, retirement villages care worker.

Requirements:

  • Year 12 Certificate (or equivalent) or Adult Entry
  • English requirement: 5.5 (no band score less than 5.0) or TOEFL iBT – 46 or PTE Academic – 42 (minimum of 36 in each band)

Certificate IV in Ageing Support

Overview

With a growing demand for aged care workers in a variety of roles within residential facilities, private homes and with the community, the certificate IV in ageing support with equip you with the necessary skills. Graduates will develop the skills, knowledge and hands on experience to work in both residential aged cate and community based facilities in jobs such as support worker and individual care worker, right through to team leader or support coordinator.

Intake & Duration:

Monthly intake and course duration is 6-18 months

Studying the certificate IV in Disability will allow you to help people with disabilities live life to the fullest. You will learn to promote a person-centred approach, work without direct supervision as well as how to supervise and coordinate small teams.

Overview

The certificate IV in Disability course covers a range of specialised skills and knowledge including recognising healthy body systems, understanding person centred support, and advocating for people with a disability. Graduates will be trained to help people with an intellectual or physical disability, by empowering them to become more independent and self-reliant, so they can participate in community activities.

Diploma of Mental Health

The Diploma of Mental Health with provide graduate with the ability to offer speciality information to those affected by mental health concerns, such as intervention programs, development of wellness plans and directives and advocacy services. You will also learn counselling skill and how to work with those experiencing drug and alcohol concerns.

Bachelor of Nursing

The Bachelor of Nursing is the qualification that you need to work as a Registered Nurse in Australia. Registered Nurse is currently on the Department of Home Affairs Medium and Long Term Strategic Skills List. The Bachelor of nursing runs for 3 years (Or 2 years after completing the Diploma of Nursing).
