Skills in Demand Visa
The Skills in Demand (SID) visa (subclass 482) allows Australian employers to sponsor
skilled overseas workers where they cannot find suitably qualified Australian candidates. This visa replaced the former Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) framework on 7 December 2024 and remains one of the most practical pathways to working in Australia, with potential pathways to permanent residency. One of the key updates under the current framework is the reduction of the work experience requirement to a minimum of 1 year in most cases, making the visa more accessible for eligible applicants.
For now, only the list of occupations for Core Skills Pathway has been released. You can find the complete list of the new Core Skills List here.
