Marine, environment and sustainability qualifications are intended to provide students with practical skills and knowledge regarding the conservation and restoration of marine ecosystems. Students will learn about underwater working skills as well as leadership skills. This course is designed for students that wish to take leadership in the community and implement their skills to educate and empower others to restore the marine environment.
This AQF level 3 course is intended to educate and empower students about the importance and practicality of marine habitat conservation and restoration. This qualification is designed to teach students both practical and theoretical skills. Students will operate monitoring equipment, collect samples, take part in various conservation and restoration projects and perform activities engaging the public and media relating to marine ecosystem preservation and reestablishment. The purpose of this course is to inspire students to take their newly acquired skills and knowledge out into the community, to empower locals and stimulate initiatives on the importance of marine conservation.
The Certificate III in Marine Habitat Conservation and Restoration supports on the job training and practical marine habitat preservation and reestablishment training. All in all, this qualification is designed to support the marine communities and develop a locally trained workforce that is passionate about conservation of marine ecosystems.
1. Academic requirement: Completion of Australian Year 10 OR overseas equivalent.
2. Present English language proficiency evidence

- IELTS, PTE, etc. (IELTS: 6.0 overall – no band less than 5.5; OR equivalent). The test result must be valid within 2 years at the time of the visa application.
- Some Education Institutions offer an in-house English Placement Test that you can take to meet the English entry requirements.
- Exemptions apply if:
– you are a citizen and hold a passport from UK, USA, Canada, NZ or Republic of Ireland
– you are enrolled in a principal course of study that is a registered school course, a standalone English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students (ELICOS), a course registered to be delivered in a language other than English, or a registered post-graduate research course
– you have completed at least 5 years of study in English in one or more of the following countries: Australia, UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, or the Republic of Ireland.

Generally, the intended purpose of the Certificate III in Marine Habitat Conservation and
Restoration is to provide students with the knowledge and skills to support them in gaining
employment in preservation and rehabilitation of marine ecosystems. Graduates also have
the option to assume higher levels of study through a Diploma, which can lead to
management roles.
Graduates will be equipped with the knowledge and skills required to participate in
conservation, restoration and the monitoring of marine environments. They will have
obtained the competencies required to participate in conservation and restoration and
monitoring activities in marine areas. There is a lot of opportunity for hands-on marine
development, conservation and restoration projects along the Australian coastline, a perk
for graduates.
