If you study Conservation and Land Management it will prepare you to work in management positions with technical level skills in conservation and land management roles. With a growing focus on our planet’s future sustainability, qualifications in this area are highly valued with up to 25,000 jobs anticipated to open over the next five years.
Students will learn how to be an effective manager in the conservation and land management industry, and develop skills such as natural area restoration, developing management plans, and data collection and management.
The course aims to develop knowledge and skills to:
- Assess the condition of natural resources and the broader landscape
- Design plans for managing and restoring a particular area of land
- Demonstrate natural resource management skills for sustainable land use
- Work effectively with stakeholders
- Understand the legal and policy framework for conservation and natural resource management.
Successful completion of this course will prepare students for many different career opportunities in the field of conservation and land management.
In 2021, the Australian government updated the training package for this qualification:
Old Name: Diploma of Conservation and Land Management (AHC51116)
New Name: Diploma of Conservation and Ecosystem Management (AHC51120)
This change was part of a broader review of the Agriculture, Horticulture, and Conservation and Land Management (AHC) training package.
English Language Proficiency: Academic IELTS 5.5 (no individual band less than 5.0) or ISLPR 2+ on all skills.
Academic Requirements: Completion of Year 12 (or equivalent). Non school-leavers must have relevant work experience or qualification that indicates likely success of course completion.
