Superannuation is a compulsory retirement savings contribution that employers pay on top of your wages.
If you’re a temporary visa holder, you can generally claim a portion of your superannuation back when you permanently leave Australia as a Departing Australia Superannuation Payment (DASP). How much depends on your visa type. Check the ATO’s DASP page for current rates.
