How much do I have to be paid for the 186 visa?

Published: Sep 11, 2020

You must be paid at least the Annual Market Salary Rate for your occupation and location, and this must be equal to or above the government’s minimum salary floor for the visa. For the 186 visa, this floor is now referred to as the Core Skills Income Threshold (CSIT), replacing the previous terminology of TSMIT when the sponsored visa framework was restructured. CSIT is indexed every year on July 1, using wage growth data, and is currently $79,423 per year for nominations made on or after July 1, 2026. The salary rate for the role will be the higher of the CSIT or the market salary rate. Superannuation or non-cash benefits are not included.
