The Certificate IV
Adult Tertiary Preparation
Did you miss out on graduating from high school? Perhaps you want to achieve a higher entrance score for entry into University? Or maybe you have just been away from formal education for several years? The Certificate IV in Tertiary Preparation is a Year 12 equivalent qualification focused on skill-based learning, completing this course will prepare you for studying at College or University.
The Certificate IV IN Adult Tertiary Preparation provides student with the specialised skills and knowledge needed to further their education at College or University.
This course expands students reading, writing and numeracy skills. You will learn computer skills, time management and problem solving skills. Students will also develop the required skills to plan, research and present academic arguments in writing and speeches.
Upon graduation, you will have gained the knowledge and confidence you need to embark on a new career path at College or University.
- Academic requirement: Completion of Australian Year 10 OR overseas equivalent.
- Present English language evidence

- IELTS, PTE, etc. (IELTS: 6.0 overall – no band less than 5.5; OR equivalent). The test result must be valid within 2 years at the time of the visa application.
- Some Education Institutions offer an in-house English Placement Test that you can take to meet the English entry requirements.
- Exemptions apply if:
– you are a citizen and hold a passport from UK, USA, Canada, NZ or Republic of Ireland
– you are enrolled in a principal course of study that is a registered school course, a standalone English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students (ELICOS), a course registered to be delivered in a language other than English, or a registered post-graduate research course
– you have completed at least 5 years of study in English in one or more of the following countries: Australia, UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, or the Republic of Ireland.

On completion you will be awarded the Tertiary Preparation Certificate (TPC). This qualification makes you eligible for entry to Colleges and Universities.
