Getting your visa application processed for General Skilled Migration? This article walks you through the Registration of Interest (ROI), how it helps get noticed by the state government for migration opportunities, and how it can open a pathway for Australian Permanent Residency.
Registration of Interest | What it’s all about
The Registration of Interest (ROI) is the process of showing interest in getting nominated by a state or territory for possible employment. If looking for work that gets you recommended by the state, this would be the aptly option for you.
Vying for a Working Visa | Who the ROI is for
The ROI is for those who are seeking employment through a state nomination process. The submission is done through a state-specific hub. What makes the ROI special? The factors that are considered have the potential for you to contribute to the territory’s economy and workforce needs — a worthwhile endeavor for any employee if you’d ask us.
Registration of Interest vs. Expression of Interest | What’s the difference?
Confused? No worries! We’ll help clarify the details. The Expression of Interest (EOI) is a statement submitted to Immigration about wanting to apply for a Skilled Migration Visa to Australia while the Registration for Interest (ROI) is made for individuals searching for state nominations. Below, we’ve created a clearer description of both.
You can only have one go at submitting an ROI while you can have multiple entries when it comes to the EOI.
Expression of Interest vs. Registration of Interest | The similarities?
Even if they’ve got a lot of things different about them, they have similarities too — both are essential processes to go through when planning to work and migrate to Australia. The EOI opens the opportunity while the ROI focuses on getting applicants who can have skills that are needed in certain states. The EOI complements the ROI because the process wouldn’t be complete without both.
From Registration to Nomination | The Process
What you’ll need:
- EOI (Expression of Interest)
- Documents & necessary paperwork
1. Check eligibility
This is always the first crucial step. See if you meet the criteria in your chosen occupation. We need to know if you meet the initial criteria so you can proceed to the next steps.
2. Submit your EOI
Creating a solid EOI helps put leverage on your application. We recommend that if you want to check out deets on how to write a good EOI, check it in our article here.
3. Submit ROI
After going through the SkillSelect portal, you’ll be able to secure your EOI number and use that to submit your nomination application to the official government portal.
4. Wait for Immigration’s results
After submitting your application, you’ll need to wait for the Immigration results. If you pass, you get an Invitation to Apply (ITA) and move on to the invitation rounds.
