✅ Course Requirements for International Students

To enrol in a graphic design course in Australia, international students generally need to meet the following:

  1. Academic Requirements

    • Completion of Year 12 (high school) or equivalent for Certificate/Diploma programs

    • For a Bachelor’s degree, you’ll need a recognised secondary school qualification

    • For Postgraduate study, a Bachelor’s degree in design or a related field is usually required

  2. English Language Proficiency

    • IELTS: Overall 5.5–6.5 (depending on the course level). More info about Studying English

    • PTE Academic: 42–58+

    • TOEFL or equivalent test scores may also be accepted

    • Exemptions apply if:
      – you are a citizen and hold a passport from UK, USA, Canada, NZ or Republic of Ireland
      – you are enrolled in a principal course of study that is a registered school course, a standalone English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students (ELICOS), a course registered to be delivered in a language other than English, or a registered post-graduate research course
      – you have completed at least 5 years of study in English in one or more of the following countries: Australia, UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, or the Republic of Ireland.
  3. Portfolio (for some courses)

    • Some institutions may request a portfolio of creative work to assess your design skills and creativity, especially for advanced or degree-level courses.

  4. Student Visa (Subclass 500)

    • Must be enrolled in a CRICOS-registered course

    • Meet the Genuine Student (GS) requirement

    • Provide evidence of financial capacity, health insurance (OSHC), and other visa conditions
