Bachelor of Psychological Science

To be eligible for admission into a Bachelor of Psychological Science in Australia, you must meet specific academic and English language proficiency requirements. These can vary slightly between universities but generally include the following:

Academic Requirements

You will need to have successfully completed a secondary school qualification equivalent to the Australian Year 12. Universities use different grading systems to assess international qualifications but they are looking for a strong academic record. Some universities may also have specific prerequisite subjects, often in English, mathematics, or science.

English Language Proficiency

Since the course is taught and assessed in English, you must provide proof of your English language skills. This is typically done through a standardised test. The most common tests and the general minimum scores required.

• • • IELTS, PTE, etc. (IELTS: 6.5 overall, no band less than 6.0). The test result must be valid within 2 years at the time of the visa application.
    • Some Education Institutions offer an in-house English Placement Test that you can take to meet the English entry requirements.
    • Exemptions apply if:
      – you are a citizen and hold a passport from UK, USA, Canada, NZ or Republic of Ireland
      – you are enrolled in a principal course of study that is a registered school course, a standalone English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students (ELICOS), a course registered to be delivered in a language other than English, or a registered post-graduate research course
      – you have completed at least 5 years of study in English in one or more of the following countries: Australia, UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, or the Republic of Ireland.

Some universities may accept prior studies completed in English in a designated country as evidence of proficiency, but this is assessed on a case-by-case basis.
