To become a registered teacher in Australia, you need a four-year Bachelor of Education or a two-year Master of Teaching. A standalone diploma is not enough for teacher registration. The Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care suits educator roles, but not primary or secondary teacher registration.
Initial teacher education must be AITSL-accredited and recognised by your state or territory teacher registration board. The former Graduate Diploma in Education has been replaced by the Master of Teaching in most universities. For VET teaching, the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is standard, not a school-teacher qualification.
International students can study an accredited Master of Teaching on a Student visa subclass 500. Teaching occupations are commonly on skilled occupation lists, supporting long-term career options.
