A skill assessment is required for most permanent visas (Such as General Skilled Migration Visas – 189, 190 and 491) and also for Permanent Employer Sponsored – 186 Direct Entry.
What is Required to pass a skill assessment:
Generally speaking, for most non-trade occupations VETASSESS does not require any practical skill evidence. Instead, you will usually be required to provide evidence you have the relevant qualifications and a specific number of years of work experience.
Each occupation requires a different level of education and a certain number of years of work experience. For example, for a Restaurant Manager, you only need to have studied at a Diploma Level, however, for a Marketing Specialist, you must have studied at a Bachelor Level.
When looking at the requirements for a Restaurant Manager you must have a relevant qualification (either from your home country or Aus) + at least 1 year of work experience.
What documents must be provided:
Each occupation has different documents required, however, you will generally need to have Education documents, employer reference + 2 types of pay evidence (Eg – payslips, tax assessment, bank statement etc..)
