Reapplication ≠ Approval
This is a gentle reminder to note that reapplying for a visa doesn’t equate to successful approval. Nothing is for sure, but, if you follow the process, double-check and provide all the requirements, getting a visa grant is possible.
Now that you’ve got the visa refusal, what’s next? We do three things: Review, Redo, and Reapply.
We’ll just put this out there and be real with you, reapplication can be more challenging, especially if you’ve received a visa refusal. Although the journey of getting a visa grant through reapplication may be difficult, it’s still worth a shot.
1. Review
Read and understand the refusal
Case Officers always highlight the reasons for rejection in every letter. Look for specificities and explanations indicated there. Comprehend the points being given.
List down the causes of refusal
Take note of the specific reasons indicated. Was there a missing file? Were there documents you didn’t fill up? Was all the financial proof sufficient? Did you provide a solid Letter of Intention?
From the Pros: Visa Reapplication Issues
Our resident Visitor Visa expert shared that most of the time, the main issues in re-application revolve around the fact that applicants have already provided all the documents they can for application and cannot provide more. But if you think you can still provide more documents that can address the refusal, reapplication is still possible.
2. Redo
Address the points raised
Ensure that your new application takes every point raised and addresses them accordingly
Prepare and gather necessary requirements
Keep in mind to collate the latest and most updated documents
Provide strong proof of finances
Possible financial evidence include:
Detail your travel plans
Create a comprehensive itinerary and make sure to indicate:
- Flight numbers and locations
- Hotel reservations and other accommodations
- Clear purpose of visit to Australia
Now that you’ve got everything together…
Don’t forget to ask yourself: Have I gathered everything that’s needed? Is it correct and complete? Check and doublecheck. If possible, have a friend or family member go over the checklist with you just in case.

3. Reapply
Consult with a professional
While it’s completely okay to do this on your own, we highly recommend you talk to a migration agent to help you prepare better and to give you sound and wise advice.
You can check out PTA’s expert migration agent roster here.
Check before Submission
Give your application one last read-through, preferably, with your migration agent.
Finally, submit your new application
Include all the revised requirements and other supporting documents needed
From the Pros: How To Get A Potential Grant?
This would depend on your capabilities to address the reason for refusal by providing documents that would address said reasons. The best way to increase your chances when re-applying is to carefully understand and to provide all documents you have in your arsenal to address them.
Trusting the Process | After Reapplication
There are 2 ways your reapplication can go — a Visitor Visa approval or another visa refusal. We say, prepare yourself for both. Either way, at least you will be ready no matter what. This will help you trust the process, and also, take some of the pressure off from yourself too.
You get a visa grant, what’s the next step?
Congrats, mate! You can now proceed with your travel plans of visiting Australia.
You get a 2nd refusal, what’s a possible option?
This isn’t something we look forward to, but if ever you do receive a 2nd refusal, our migration agents would usually recommend looking at other options to get into Australia, or to consider re-applying at your own risk. There is no limit to re-application afterall.
