From Germany to Queensland: How Beatrice Discovered a New Life in Australia Through Early Childhood Education

At Pathway to Aus, we’re lucky to meet people from all over the world who are chasing their dream of building a life in Australia. One of the many stories that we received recently was that of Beatrice and Ralph, a couple from Germany who made the bold decision to move across the globe and are now celebrating their permanent residency here in Queensland.

Their path was not always smooth sailing or straightforward, but with determination, the right training, and a bit of guidance from the right crew, they have pulled it off. If you are an early childhood professional considering taking a similar step, their journey could be the catalyst you need.

A Simple Connection That Changed Everything

Beatrice is a trained Early Childhood teacher, having spent years studying and working in Germany. Like many dedicated teachers, she has always been interested in teaching overseas but didn’t know where to begin.

Fortunately, one of the providers of early childhood education in Australia was in fact on the lookout for professionals such as her. Since we had previously worked with Beatrice and added her to our talent pool, we were therefore able to place her in contact with the proper employer at the right time.

“I suppose we were lucky,” Beatrice said. “The provider was seeking someone like me and Pathway to Aus already had me in their portfolio. It just fell into place.”

The First Step: A 482 Visa

With the assistance of her new employer, Beatrice entered Australia on a subclass 482 Temporary Skill Shortage visa. This visa permits skilled workers to work in Australia when they’ve been sponsored by an approved business.

Since Beatrice had her skills evaluated prior to coming, she was ahead in the migration game. Once she got to Queensland and had gotten settled into her new job, it was time to start planning for something more long-term.

Going for PR: A Strategic Approach

After some time working in Australia, Beatrice and Ralph decided to apply for permanent residency. The key step here was submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI)—which tells the Australian Government that you’re eligible and would like to be considered for a skilled visa.

We began the process around April, just in time to stay ahead of upcoming changes to visa fees and regulations.

“Honest to goodness, the longest wait was for the medical check,” Ralph laughed. “But that only took a few months too.”

We were in close contact throughout the process—not only filing papers but actually strategically planning. For example, we assisted Beatrice in getting an additional 5 points for her application which helped immensely when applying for the 190 State Nominated Visa.

“You didn’t simply check a box,” Ralph said. “You ensured we had the greatest opportunity. And those little tactical choices wound up opening large doors for us.”

A New Chapter in Australia

Today, Beatrice continues to work in early childhood education—but her job has changed. She began as a classroom teacher and now works in a more leadership-focused position, coaching teachers throughout the preschool and kindergarten years.

Even better, Breatrice is next going to start her Master’s by Research in Early Childhood Education. Her long-time aspiration that she finally has the means to achieve.

“I’m still with the children every day,” she beamed. “But now I also get to mentor and assist other teachers. And soon, I’ll be conducting research that I hope will have a greater impact on the profession.”

Would They Recommend Pathway to Aus?

Asked if they’d recommend Pathway to Aus to others looking to migrate, the response was swift—and sincere:

“Absolutely. Best migration agent we’ve dealt with—and we tried six before you,” Ralph replied. “You never let us down. You were honest, responsive, and truly had our best interests at heart.”
