Most plumbers migrate to Australia through skilled migration or employer sponsorship. General Skilled Migration (subclass 189 or 190) is a permanent visa that doesn’t need an employer to sponsor you.
Employer sponsorship is generally through the Skills in Demand visa (subclass 482) or, for permanent residence, the Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186).
For regional employers specifically, the Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 494) offers a pathway to permanent residence through subclass 191 after meeting residence requirements.
The older Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (subclass 187) is closed to new direct-entry applicants and now only applies to a narrow group of existing transitional visa holders.
