Assessment Level (also called Evidence Level or Country Risk Level) is the risk-rating system used under Australia’s Simplified Student Visa Framework (SSVF), which has applied since 2016. It ranges from Level 1 (lowest risk) to Level 3 (highest risk) and generally determines how much supporting evidence an applicant may need to provide.
Two factors are assessed together: the applicant’s country of citizenship and their chosen education provider. These ratings are reviewed periodically and can change, so applicants should check the current rating for their specific country and institution rather than relying on older published figures.
