Interview with Mohit
From study on the Gold Coast to the TSS visa, Mohit shares how his pathway took shape and how he found his role at Study Gold Coast.

From Student Visa
to Graduate Visa
Mohit is a client of Pathway to Aus who we have helped successfully transition from Student Visa to Graduate Visa to Employer Sponsored (Subclass 482 Visa). He now works in the international education industry working as education management on The Gold Coast for Study Gold Coast.
The Graduate visa was a very simple process and went through easily. It was when it came to applying for the TSS employer sponsored visa where it became tricky. Generally speaking in order to be employed on the TSS visa as an education manager NEC you would need to have 5 years post qualification work experience. This was requested by immigration after lodgment.
However PTA migration lawyers and agents were able to successfully argue that in specific circumstances these 5 years experience could be waived as the occupation is highly specialised. After a lot of explanatory evidence provided, the case officer decided in our favour and granted Mohit the visa!

Nick asks
When did you initially come out to Australia?

Mohit answers
I came out to Australia around 2014. I initially came as an international student at Southern Cross Uni where I studied a Masters of International Tourism and Hotel Management. This was a rewarding course and I learnt a lot throughout the process.

Nick asks
What was your pathway to the visa?

Mohit answers
So I was initially granted a student visa. After graduating I then moved to the graduate work visa. Now I am currently on the TSS Visa. I remained in Aus throughout the whole process.

Nick asks
What did you do before coming to Australia?

Mohit answers
I was working in India at my dads business which is a travel business. I had also just finished an MBA at another university.

Nick asks
What do you do in Aus now?

Mohit answers
I work for Study Gold Coast as an Education Manager – Student Engagement. Study Gold Coast is a body that promotes the Gold Coast as the ideal destination for education on a domestic and international scale. I love this job and get to work and help out students everyday.

Nick asks
How did you find your job in?

Mohit answers
In 2015 I was an international student on The Gold Coast. I had the opportunity to be part of the Mayor Ambassador program for Study Gold Coast. It was during this time I learnt more about the organisation. Study Gold Coast is in line with what I want to do in the future. I then asked to do an internship for Study Gold Coats. I had an interview and got the casual job working for 2 days per week. This led to full time work whilst on the Graduate Visa.

Nick asks
Any advice for someone thinking about moving to Australia?
